For the first time, the 4A’s board of directors, execs from the nation’s largest advertising agencies, have gone on record opposing the Senate proposal to limit the advertising tax deduction.
The letter, sent today, was in response to a proposal from Senate finance committee chairman Max Baucus that would reduce the ad tax deduction by half for the first year and amortize the other half over five years.

JOPLIN, Mo. — The Joplin Board of Education plans to move forward with a proposal to allow sponsorship opportunities, advertising and naming rights around the school district.
Dawn Sticklen, a board member who has been researching the proposal, told the board at its monthly meeting Tuesday night that her recommendation is for the board to allow the sale and placement of age- and content-appropriate advertisements on district property and websites. This could generate new revenue for the school district and build a network of business partners, she said.

Despite objections from a former director and chatter on the Marple Newtown Parents Facebook page, the school board voted unanimously, Nov. 26, to approve advertising at the high school football stadium, gym, fitness center, cafeteria, on televisions and the district website. The specific content is subject to approval by the board or its designee, with the final contract language subject to review and approval by the solicitor.
