Schools could begin putting ads on their websites

Some mid-Michigan public school websites soon could be carrying advertising if the districts strike a deal with a Troy-based web entrepreneur.
“Typical sponsors are not businesses that normally target students,” said Deborah Underhill, regional general manager of Alternative Revenue Development. Instead, advertising is aimed at parents, particularly moms.
Underhill said advertisers include orthodontists, restaurants, insurance companies, tutoring services, universities and hospitals.
