Advertising inches forward in Dearborn Schools

Dearborn Public Schools took a cautious step forward in allowing advertising on school grounds when the board asked the policy committee to review the district’s rules and see what other schools are doing.
School board members seemed to favor eventually creating a community committee to offer input, but in statements at Monday’s meeting, they disagreed on when to pull that group together and how wide its scope should be.
“I think we already do a lot of advertising in our schools,” said Board Member Aimee Blackburn. The district receives a deal on Coke products for allowing those machines in the high schools, she said. Defibrillator machines were donated, but bear a sponsor company’s logo, she said.
