Indy sells naming rights to snow-fighting fleet to Cargill

Hardly anyone flinched when Lucas Oil pledged $121.5 million for top billing on Indianapolis’ new football stadium. Even nonprofits have gotten into the act, honoring big-dollar donors in the names of the projects they fund.
So is it any surprise that Indianapolis has bartered away naming rights for . . . its snow-fighting fleet?
Now presenting: Indy Snow Force Powered by Cargill. The namesake: Minneapolis-based Cargill Inc., which sells $2.5 million to $3 million of salt each year to the Indianapolis Department of Public Works.
